We are a non-profit organization. All of our range safety officers are volunteers with hunting, military and/or law enforcement firearms experience. Individual instruction is available at no cost on a "time permitting" basis. However, the first responsibility of range staff is your safety.
BBVSC is currently offering NRA Basic Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun courses. Check with the range staff or visit the NRA training site for dates and location.
We offer H.R. 218 qualification to eligible retired peace officers. We meet LAPD standards. Check with your department to determine if civilian range qualification is allowed and what course of fire is required.
The Big Bear Charcoal Burners (a black powder shooting club) shoots at the range every second Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until approximately 1:00 PM. During their shoot, the rifle/pistol side of the range is closed. However, black powder shooters are welcome to join the Charcoal Burners shoot for an additional $6.00 fee. Firearms (rifle, pistol and shotgun) must be consistent in form to the period of 1800 - 1840. In-line rifles and black powder revolvers are not permitted at these shoots but are welcome at all other times.
